The Sofox Outfit is what I gradually developed as I kept going to furry conventions. It came together piece by piece.
So first of all the character of Sofox (he's been through a couple of variants, but this is the form he's been known as for the longest):
(Art by Beanie)
A purple fox with yellow and blue markings.
My earliest memorable addition was this had made as a custom order one Anthrocon by Nightengale Needles
Another major piece bought was premade. A purple and black hoodie from Lemonbrat that includes a tail!
Things would evolve as I gradually learned how to sew. For instance, with Burda Style Pattern 6602 Shirt, I made the long sleeved shirt using purple jersey knit fabric. Great for covering the arms, and comfy.
And then my sewing skill increased enough to finally replace the Nightengale Needles cap (she was very understanding).
My pride and go to convention headwear for a long time. Both the right colours and markings, and a fun idea. Baseball caps with eyes on them can be found if you look through Google Images, but they're surpisingly uncommon at conventions.
Essentially, it's a fleece "sleeve" that fits over a standard off the shelf baseball cap. It make the bill of the cap into a muzzle, and has ears. The eyes and markings are coloured felt glued to the surface of the cap.
Incidentally, the fabric falls down the back of the neck, and connects under my chin (with a nice neck fur pattern on it), so whether its still classified as a "cap" by this point is up for debate.
At one stage I had leather claws from Red Falcon, but lost one of the gloves frustratingly.
With enough of my costume gradually assembled, I finally, at Anthrocon 2018, had enough courage to do a photoshoot. I appreciated the encouragement I received.
(Photoshoot by Dragonscales, thank you!)
You can see my cap and long sleeved shirt, along with the Red Falcon leather claws (which have been banned at the odd convention).
Under the leather claws are Lemonbrat Gloveletts. Hoodie is Lemonbrat too as I've mentioned.
The shorts I sewed myself McCall's Pattern 6933 using purple cotton fabric. My bare shins are something I tried to address later, with either black trousers instead of the shorts, or tubes of purple spandex hastily sewn together..
As for the feet covering or "spats" as they are apparently called. I losely based the pattern found in Simplicity pattern 2853, but largely I cut out a piece of purple fur, sewed up one side, and used a band of elastic around the ankle to keep it in place. Same for the other foot. A rather simple "put together" that has worked really well and I've worn multiple cons since!
From all this, at Megaplex 2019, I entered my first Fursuit Parade, after having watched them at various conventions for so many years.
(From a video taken at Megaplex 2019)
Once again we've the handmade cap, the Lemonbrat hoodie, handmade shirt, shorts and spats.
The muzzle facemask is from Lemonbrat.
The glovelets... well, here's the thing. The same Lemonbrat glovelets you see above, but I took some purple fur and sewed it on top of it. I also added some plastic claws to the end for effect!
Shins are now covered with some simple tubes of purple spandex, had to borrow a dealer's sewing machine for last minute fixes.
I don't always go this far with the Sofox dress, some cons I "dress down" with only a few items from the ensemble. This convention was special since I just worked up the courage to do the fursuit parade for the first and only time in my life! It was nervewracking since I didn't consider this a full fursuit, but many had encouraged me so I joined in and put my full energy into having fun and and striding down that parade route!
It was so worth it!
