Overview[edit]

Sonic Heroes was a Sonic game released in December 2003 on Nintendo GameCube and later in January 2004
on Microsoft XBox and Sony Playstation2. It also was available as a Windows PC game. The story followed several
different teams of characters (Team Sonic, Team Dark, Team Rose, Team Chaotix) all off on an adventure. Team Sonic's
goal was to stop Dr. Eggman after receieving a letter from him, proclaiming he is close to ruling the world. Team Rose
starred Amy Rose, Big the Cat, and Cream the Rabbit, all trying to find their missing friends. Team Dark all wanted Eggman
for their own reasons. E-123 for revenge, Shadow for answers, and Rouge the Bat for gold. Lastly, Team Chaotix's story had the
trio following directions from a client via a walkie-talkie.

Reception[edit]

When first images of the game appeared online, showing the return of Metal Sonic, The Chaotix and classic checkered hills,
anticipation was high amongst Sonic fans, expecting the title to be a return to the series roots. (A claim Sonic Team has made on
many occasions for several different Sonic games which did do nothing of the sort.) The game was a big disappointment
among Sonic fans and receieved mediocre reviews from critics. But it wasn't nearly as bad as future titles in the series.
This was only the beginning of a downward slope for the Sonic franchise. This title also originated the phrase "Sonic's
Shitty Friends" for the game's overuse of uninteresting characters (There were 12 characters in total, not to mention
unplayable characters in the storyline such as Metal Sonic, Froggy, Chocola, Omochao and Dr Eggman)
