I'm not keen on the word "Memes". Didn't we always used to call them "injokes"? I'd honestly prefer we use that word instead unless someone has a reason not to. Sofox 09:41, 24 March 2008 (PDT)

I'm calling you out Spazz

This is not true. If you noticed, I didn't enter the Rickroll page as an injoke and I did have a different criteria. Since there was some agreement with me on preferring the term "injoke" over "meme" (both because "injoke" is more traditional and "meme" isn't liked by some people), I made the distinction that an injoke was something was intrinsic (or at least fairly intrisic, (see "G-" or "I am sad")) to the MC/SER community, ususally created by, or in association with, a member of the community and generally unknown to the internet and world at large. A "meme" is an "import" from other websites and/or trends which the MC/SER community usually gets caught up in (All Your Base or Rickrolling.
That's the distinction I've given them. I was being bold, and I suppose I could have made that clear beforehand, but I'm doing so now. Sofox 13:20, 25 March 2008 (PDT)

    • I see what you mean. Although the word "meme" doesn't imply that something came from somewhere else, so perhaps we should categorize general internet memes inder something completely different. (Just to clarify, "All Your Base" would be an internet meme, whereas the coffee machine would be a Moogle Cavern meme.) Spazz 16:37, 25 March 2008 (PDT)
