Who is Mirai?[edit]
Mirai Zikasu is a long-time member of the Internet community Sonic Eats Rings and the now defunct Moogle Cavern. He first arrived at the Moogle Cavern back in its EZBoard days and followed the community through its various incarnations and eventual mass migration to SER. He currently lives in Washington, D.C. as an expatriate from the Democratic People's Republic of New Jersey. He is a university graduate holding a double major in international affairs and Japanese language. He was the first person to begin regularly typing in colored text, starting the small-scale Colored Text fad. He also works to organize an annual meet-up and dinner at the anime convention Otakon. In the summer of 2008, he served as the tour guide for Lemocon IV in Washington, D.C. He also has the unfortunate honor of being the SER user with the most time spent online.
What is Mirai?[edit]
Mirai's signature traits on SER are his long-running "Gothic M" avatar and his silver, italicized serif text. He is also known for his often verbose speech, ramblings about justice, numerous eccentricities, and passion for coffee, cooking, aesthetics, arts and crafts, railroads, and various other things. His very first live interactions with MC/SER individuals took place while in cosplay at Otakon 2006 and 2007 which resulted in a strong personification of him as a life incarnate of L from Death Note. Few have seen or met him aside from those who have attended the Otakon meet-ups and his friend in real life Banana Bat and those whom he has personally sought out. Individuals from SER and #lemonade who have witnessed him firsthand have presented a somewhat different image of a pale, occasionally sparkly individual usually with silver jewelry, a cane umbrella, and a penchant for spinning around lampposts. He is also one of two or three Republicans on SER. Online, he has occasionally been characterized as part of various stereotypes such as that of the fancy Victorian aristocrat, goth, emo, band geek, right-wing nutjob, French speaker, yuppie, and metrosexual over the last eight years with many labels overlapping and curiously contradicting each other. He has been described by SuitCase as being “like an amalgamation of easy stereotypes that basically turns into an impossible-to-classify amorphous being.”
What does Mirai do?[edit]
Mirai is constantly under the delusion that he has time for enjoying life, and as such, has about 9,000 hobbies. They include:
- Sketching
- Singing
- Cosplay
- Acting and Musical Theatre
- Cooking (by the book)
- Reading manga
- Watching trains
- Modifying, playing with model trains
- Wandering the D.C. streets on cold, clear nights under a full moon often accompanied by his cane umbrella
- Ice skating and subsequently falling on his ass in an unnecessarily spectacular fashion
- Photoshopping forum images, ideally of a shocking or lulzy nature
- Designing advertisements and graphics for local political student groups
- Advocating truth and justice as a member of the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy
What else about Mirai?[edit]
Mirai was at one time a frequent victim of SER crack yaoi pairings like some generic bishounen. He attributed this misfortunate phenomenon to his occasional (?) flamboyancy and the long-standing ambiguousness of his heterosexuality. He also has a habit of opening himself up for lulz at his own expense.
