Series Overview[edit]

Invader ZIM was an animated series that aired on Nickelodeon, from comic artist Jhonen Vasquez. The show centers around a tiny Irken alien named Zim, who was banished to the planet of foodcourtia for ruining the Irkens first attempt at galactic conquest. When the Irkens tried once again to rule the galaxy, Zim "quit" his banishment to join. Wanting to get rid of Zim, the leaders of the Irken race, known as "The Tallest" sent Zim to a far away, nonexistant, planet, along with a defective helper-robot who calls himself GIR. After several years, ZIM found planet Earth, assuming it was the planet that the Tallest sent him to. He landed in a small neighborhood and built a base of operations disguised as a house. Wearing a wig and dressing GIR up as a dog, Zim successfully blended in with the people of Earth and enrolled himself in skool, in order to learn the planets weaknesses. However, a giant-headed, insane boy named Dib saw through Zim's disguise and constantly tried to convince the world that Zim is in fact, an alien. Nobody believed him. The show pushed the envelope for what was allowed on a children's program, with one episode featuring a child having his eyes ripped out and another episode focusing on Zim stealing organs from the kids at school to try and appear human. The show gained a cult following, with many members of the Moogle Cavern being fans of it. It was canceled a year or two later, much to the dismay of fans. Merchandise of this show is still being made and sold at Hot Topic.

DVD[edit]

The series was released on DVD in early 2004, featuring the unaired episodes from the mediocre season 2.
